Auto Responders - An e-mail address that generates an automatic reply to messages it receives. 

 
   


Connection Scheduler - A connection scheduler enables VPOP3 to contact the Internet on a periodic basis. 

E-Mail - Electronic mail sent via the Internet. 

ISP - Internet Service Providers are your access points to the Internet. They provide the doorway by which you go on-line. 

Mailbox - A mailbox is the space on an e-mail server where messages for an e-mail address like amit@yourdomain.co.in are stored until Amit logs on, downloads the messages, and reads them. 

Modem - A piece of technology designed to allow computers to use analogue (not digital) telephone lines for communication. 

POP3 - Post Office Protocol version 3 is the set of rules computers use for receiving most e-mail messages. 

Router - A 'black box' that links two networks together, e.g. your LAN and the Internet. 

Server - A program or computer that offers 'services' (such as e-mail) to other computers on the network. 

Spam - Unsolicited junk mail usually sent in bulk to huge lists of e-mail addresses. 

TCP/IP Networking - Transfer Control Protocol / Internet Protocol is a 'language' used by computers to communicate together over the Internet and other networks. 

Terminal Adaptor - A Terminal Adaptor is the equivalent of a modem for ISDN. 

Windows - The most widely used operating system for personal computers. 

Workstation Computer - A workstation computer is a computer connected to a server, that is the machine operating VPOP3.
